NGOZI OKONJO IWEALA - FOW TV WOMAN OF THE WEEK.
Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala
Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala (born 13 June 1954) is a Nigerian politician.
She served two terms as Finance Minister of Nigeria (2003-2006, 2011-2015) and was previously Managing Director of the World Bank (2007-2011). She currently chairs the Board of the Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization (GAVI) and the African Risk Capacity (ARC). She is also a Senior Adviser at Lazard.
Dr. Okonjo-Iweala is renowned as the first female and African descent to contest as a candidate for the presidency of the World Bank Group in 2012.[1]
Okonjo-Iweala was educated at St. Annne's School, Molete, Ibadan, the International School Ibadan and Harvard University, graduating magna cum laude with an AB in Economics in 1976, and earned her PhD in regional economics and development from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in 1981. She received an International Fellowship from the American Association of University Women (AAUW) that supported her doctoral studies.[2]
She is married to Dr. Ikemba Iweala, a neurosurgeon from Umuahia, Abia State, and they have four children.[3]
She also introduced the practice of publishing each state's monthly financial allocation from the Federal Government of Nigeria in the newspapers. This action went a long way in increasing transparency in governance.[6] With the support of the World Bank and the IMF to the Federal Government of Nigeria, she helped build an electronic financial management platform-the Government Integrated Financial Management and Information System (GIFMIS), including the Treasury Single Account (TSA) and the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS), helping to curtail corruption in the process. As at 31 December 2014, the IPPIS platform for example had eliminated 62,893 ghost workers from the system and saved the Nigerian government about $1.25 billion in the process.[7]
Dr. Okonjo-Iweala was also instrumental in helping Nigeria obtain its first ever sovereign credit rating (of BB minus) from Fitch Ratings and Standard & Poor's in 2006.[2]
Following her first term as Minister of Finance, she returned to the World Bank as a Managing Director in December 2007. Dr. Okonjo-Iweala had also previously spent the first 21 years of her career as a development economist at the World Bank. As Managing Director, she had oversight responsibility for the World Bank’s $81 billion operational portfolio in Africa, South Asia, Europe and Central Asia.[3]
Dr. Okonjo-Iweala spearheaded several World Bank initiatives to assist low-income countries during the 2008 – 2009 food crises and later during the financial crisis. In 2010, she was chair of the IDA replenishment, World Bank’s successful drive to raise $49.3 billion in grants and low interest credit for the poorest countries in the world.[8]
In 2011, Okonjo-Iweala was reappointed as Minister of Finance in Nigeria with the expanded portfolio of the Coordinating Minister for the Economy by President Goodluck Jonathan. Her legacy includes strengthening Nigeria’s public financial systems, stimulating the housing sector with the establishment of the Nigerian Mortgage Refinance Corporation (NMRC).[9] She also empowered Nigeria’s women and youth with the Growing Girls and Women in Nigeria Programme (GWIN); a gender responsive budgeting system[10] and the highly acclaimed Youth Enterprise with Innovation programme (YouWIN); a highly acclaimed programme to support entrepreneurs that created thousands of jobs.[11]
This program has been evaluated by the World Bank as one of the most effective programmes of its kind globally. Under her leadership, the National Bureau of Statistics carried out a rebasing exercise; the first in 24 years, which saw Nigeria emerge as the largest economy in Africa.[12] She took a lot of heat, more-so than any other government official for the fuel subsidy removal policy by the Nigerian government which led to protests in January 2012.[13] In May 2016, the new Nigerian administration eventually removed the fuel subsidy after it became apparent that it was unsustainable and inefficient.[14]
In September 2015, she joined Lazard as a Senior Advisor[15] and in January 2016 she was appointed Chair of the Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization (GAVI).[14]
She is co-chair of the Global Commission for the Economy and Climate, with Nicholas Stern and Paul Polman.[16]
Previously, she served as the co-Chair of the Global Partnership for Effective Development Cooperation[20] and Chair of the World Bank’s Development Committee (2004). She was also a member of the International Monetary and Finance Committee of the IMF (2003-2006 and 2011-2015), the United Nations’ Secretary General’s High-Level Panel on the Post-2015 Development Agenda, the Danish-Government-led Commission on Africa, the World Economic Forum Global Leadership Council on Transparency and Corruption, and the renowned Commission on World Growth, led by Nobel Prize winner Professor Michael Spence. She has served on the advisory board of the Clinton Global Initiative and the ONE Foundation.
Dr. Okonjo-Iweala is the founder of Nigeria’s first indigenous opinion-research organization, NOI-Polls.[21] She founded the Center for the Study of Economies of Africa (C-SEA),[22] a development research think tank based in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital and is a Distinguished Visiting Fellow at the Center for Global Development and the Brookings Institution; premier Washington DC think tanks.

her bare chest through the sheer panel placed over her perky cleavage.
Eva is one of many superstars to throw
their support as an acting ambassador of the Global Gift Foundation, a
charity that works to raise funds for foundations, charities and
organisations that share its vision and aims.
Through
events such as the various galas and fundraisers the charity funds
several projects - including The Eva Longoria Foundation - founded in
2012 - with the aim of helping Latinas build better futures through
education and entrepreneurship.
With many years of hosting bashes
under her belt, the stunning star knows a thing or two about red carpet
prowess - as illustrated when she swept into the event looking simply
phenomenal in her golden number.
The
top of the dress was given a saucy touch with a tight sheer base
flaunting her braless state, while strategically placed sequined
adornments and lace appliques helped protect her modesty while boosting
her perky cleavage.
Sure to make the most of her famously
stunning good looks, Eva scraped her hair off her face into an elegant
chignon sitting atop her head while her make-up was perfectly applied.
A
bronze-hued smokey eye was perfectly shaded around the stunning star's
eyes, while her lower lash line was generously smudged with kohl to help
perfect the glamorous look.
Ensuring
her bling was not only on her dress, the brunette beauty also wore
lashings of jewels including drooling diamonds in her earrings and her
eye-popping engagement and wedding ring gifted to her by her husband
Jose Antonio Bastón, with whom she will celebrate her first wedding
anniversary on Sunday.
Adding to the superstar turn out on the
night was Pamela Anderson, who was wholly more casual than the Desperate
Housewives star, as she turned out in a boxy white jacket with a
prom-style skirt.
She opted for
Fifties-style glamour in the ensemble which teased just a hint of her
famous cleavage from beneath the sheer jacket which she chose to sport
nothing underneath.
Her hair was
styled into a super glamorous blonde quiff falling over a scraped back
ponytail which fell over her shoulders in bouncy lengths. She paired the
hairstyle with stunning diamond earrings.
Pamela
and Eva clearly got along famously, as they delightedly greeted one
another on the red carpet with warm smiles and a mutual appreciation for
their ensembles.
Amanda Seyfried looks slender in leggings and a pink T-shirt as she steps out seven weeks after welcoming her first child.
She welcomed her first child just seven weeks ago,
But
Amanda Seyfried wasn't letting caring for a newborn slow her down as
she headed out to walk her dog Finn in Los Angeles on Tuesday.
Looking
slender as she hit the streets, the 31-year-old actress appeared to
have had no trouble snapping back to her pre-baby figure.
Clad in a plain pink
T-shirt, the Mamma Mia star appeared to go braless, whilst she slung a
small black cross body bag across her chest.
Amanda teamed the garment with
figure-hugging black leggings which highlighted her slender pins, whilst
she slipped into a pair of chunky white trainers.
Radiating
with a healthy new mother glow, the MTV Movie Award winner went make-up
free for the outing, whilst she swept her golden tresses into a
topknot.
Amanda was no doubt keen to get back home
and see her daughter - who she welcomed in late March with her husband
Thomas Sadoski.
The couple first laid
their eyes on one another as co-stars on set of The Last Word in 2016,
and embarked on a whirlwind romance.
It
was love at first sight for the pair, as they announced their
engagement in September that year - and Amanda's pregnancy two months
later in November.
She tied the knot with her husband in a
secret ceremony, with Thomas revealing on James Corden's The Late Late
Show that they 'eloped' in March.
When
asked to describe the intimate ceremony, he said, 'It was beautiful. It
was everything that it should be. It was just the two of us talking to
each other.'
Ahead of the birth of
their little one, Thomas revealed they already had their parenting
duties decided, quipping to E! News: 'I'm terrified but I couldn't be
more excited. Amanda gets the singing. I do the diaper changing.'

EXPAND YOUR WORLD!!!
Hayden Panettiere's childhood home goes on the market for $1.75M after parents' bitter divorce battle finally comes to an end.
Hayden Panettiere's childhood home, where
she lived as she first made her foray into the acting world, has gone on
the market for $1.75million.
The light and airy home, which sits in the upmarket hamlet of Palisades, New York, boasts four bedrooms and 3.5 bedrooms and is a short stroll from the Hudson River.
And
fans of the 27-year-old actress might be further impressed to learn
that the posh area is also where Angelina Jolie grew up - and it is has
been called home by the likes of Al Pacino and Bill Murray, as well as
veteran broadcaster Diane Sawyer.
The tastefully-appointed property, which sits on a tree-lined lot of
green land, was purchased by Hayden's parents, former soap
actress Lesley R. Vogel and fire captain Alan Lee 'Skip' Panettiere, in
1995.
At the time, their famous daughter was
aged just six years old, but had already landed her role as Sarah
Roberts on the long-running daytime soap One Life To Live.
Lesley
and Skip - who are also parents to 22-year-old actor Jansen Panettiere -
went their separate ways eight years ago, igniting a bitter eight-year
battle that finally came to an end in April. The home is still
registered in their names.
Hayden has been keeping a low profile with
her boxer partner Wladimir Klitschko, following his defeat at the hands
of heavyweight champ Anthony Joshua in April.
The
Nashville star was among the contingent cheering on the 41-year-old
Ukrainian at London's Wembley Stadium during the hot ticket bout.
Wladimir
had looked on the verge of victory when he heavily dropped Anthony
Joshua in the sixth round but he faced defeat in the gripping 11th
round.
He returned to his feet for the
third time in the bout but referee David Fields waved the fight off with
the former champion unable to defend himself.
Arnold Schwarzenegger was
spotted in the crowd along with former England captain Rio Ferdinand, ex
world heavyweight champion Frank Bruno and glamour model Danielle
Lloyd.
Blonde beauty Hayden shares two-year-old daughter Kaya with her sportsman beau.
In
March, while taking a flight with their adorable offspring, Hayden
revealed that things went comically awry when Kaya 'peed' on the
airplane's bathroom floor.
In a bid to
make the environment pleasant for other passengers, Hayden got stuck in
with the clean up operation - aided by her adorable little girl.
Seeing the humour, Hayden wrote: 'Aaaand
then ur daughter pees on the floor of the airplane bathroom But look at
that baby girl helping momma clean.'
Showing
a pained expression, Hayden was pictured mopping up on her hands and
knees while mummy's little helper mimicked her, on the floor.
Hayden
already made light of her experience travelling in coach class - as
opposed to chartering a G5 private jet - earlier that week in a humorous
post about her seat.
'Who needs a G5 when you have the whole row in coach #Row27' she wrote, showing off the luxury of all the space around her.
Busy working mom Hayden recently travelled around the US to promote the fifth series of her hit ABC show Nashville.
The
star previously took time off from filming the music drama, on which
she has played Juliette Barns for five years, after suffering from
postpartum depression.
In November 2015, she admitted herself to a facility for treatment and then checked in a second time in May 2016.
This
January, Hayden told her followers on Twitter: 'The postpartum
depression I have been experiencing has impacted every aspect of my
life.
'Rather than stay stuck due to unhealthy
coping mechanisms I have chosen to take time to reflect holistically on
my health and life. Wish me luck!'
Hayden
has spoken publicly about her depression in motherhood in an attempt to
raise awareness about the condition and encourage other mothers to seek
professional support.
In an interview
with Good Morning America host Sara Haines, the actress admitted that it
took her a while to realise there was something wrong.
'You
feel off. You don’t feel like yourself,' she explained. 'But I think
I'm all the stronger for it. And I think I'm a better mom because of it.
Women are so resilient and that’s the incredible thing about them.'
